Amin Salam is a seasoned executive and international counselor with experience in business development, management, workforce education and development, strategic leadership, advocacy, government relations, communications, public affairs, public policy, and coalitions building. Successful career with major global corporations, driving international business development at the highest level – creating and managing an international footprint covering 50+ countries.
Extensive involvement in leading external affairs and practicing business diplomacy with government entities, public officials, and political parties —Amin has a passion for business growth. He drove expansion into global markets for energy, advanced technology, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, defense, consumer goods, and retail corporations.
As Vice President of the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce, Amin served as the primary liaison between the US and the 22 countries of Middle East & North Africa (MENA) in advising high level officials in the public and private sectors on issues of trade, investment, security, and foreign affairs. In this capacity, he expanded MENA market share, improved overall cost savings, promoted sustainable bilateral business relationships and played a leading role assisting fortune 500 companies and industry associations – especially those seeking growth in emerging markets– to decipher and navigate foreign trade and investment barriers.
Prior to joining the Chamber of Commerce, Amin worked as an international corporate attorney at Shearman & Sterling LLP a New York based global law firm. In that capacity, Amin advised leading global companies and U.S. industry associations on a wide range of high-profile, cutting-edge international trade, investment, and market access issues.
* Amin was appointed for two terms by the Maryland state governor to serve as a Senior Economic and Policy Advisor for the Maryland Commission for Middle-Eastern American Affairs, where he established and led programs to strengthen commercial ties between the state of Maryland and the MENA region.
* Recipient of the President of the United States “E” Star Award, the highest recognition that a US entity can receive for supporting trade & investment activity. This was the first time in the award’s 54-year history that it was awarded to a Chamber of Commerce dedicated to USMENA relations.
