Amin Salam
Amin Salam is a Lebanese–American international attorney, global executive, and former Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Lebanon, with more than 25 years of leadership at the intersection of economic policy, international commerce, and public governance. Over the course of his career, he has advised senior decision-makers across governments, multilateral institutions, and global enterprises, shaping economic strategy, regulatory reform, and cross-border partnerships in more than 60 countries.
As Minister of Economy and Trade, and as former Governor at the World Bank, Salam guided Lebanon’s economic policy during one of the most consequential periods in its modern history. His tenure focused on advancing structural reforms, strengthening institutional governance, and engaging constructively with international financial institutions and global partners in pursuit of economic stabilization and recovery.

In the private sector, Salam has led complex multinational strategies for global corporations across sectors including energy, advanced technology, telecommunications, healthcare, manufacturing, and consumer industries. A recognized practitioner of business diplomacy, he operates at the convergence of policy and enterprise—aligning commercial objectives with geopolitical realities, facilitating market access, and enabling sustainable growth in dynamic and often challenging environments.
Earlier in his career, Salam served as Vice President of the U.S.–Arab Chamber of Commerce, where he played a key role in strengthening economic and trade relations between the United States and countries across the Middle East and Africa. He began his professional career at Shearman & Sterling LLP in New York, advising multinational corporations and leading industry associations on complex cross-border legal and regulatory matters.
He also served two terms as Senior Economic and Policy Advisor to the Maryland Commission for Middle Eastern American Affairs, following his appointment by the Governor of Maryland. In this capacity, he led strategic economic initiatives and fostered international partnerships to advance bilateral engagement.
Salam is the recipient of the President of the United States “E” Star Award—the highest distinction granted by the U.S. government for advancing international trade and investment. He remains actively engaged with leading international philanthropic institutions, supporting initiatives that promote economic development, education, and global cooperation.
